Our Mission

913Athletics’ mission is to be an elite Kansas City volleyball club dedicated to creating and sustaining a culture of high level, dynamic, and competitive volleyball players. We are committed to working with athletes who are motivated to compete and succeed. Our team aims to equip athletes with the tools for success on and off the court and to develop a never ending love for volleyball. Our Athletes understand the commitment to the team and are willing to do/play in whatever position is necessary for the success of the team.

For their 3rd club season (2025-2026), 913Athletics offered a total of 15 teams ranging from U12-U17 - 2 of which qualified for USAV Nationals. 913Athletics plans to add U11’s and U18’s for the 2026-2027 season.

How We Operate

(2026-2027 Club Season)

From November through January/February, our teams train at a high level with three two-hour practices each week at Olathe South High School or Radiant Church. One of those sessions is dedicated to position-specific skills training, where athletes break out by position for an hour to focus on detailed, game-impacting reps. Teams then come back together to apply those skills in fast-paced, game-like play.

National teams will maintain this three-day training schedule through the end of February. Black and White teams will shift to two practices per week following the MLK Tournament.

Beyond the court, each team will come together once a month from January through March for film sessions and team bonding—building not just smarter athletes, but stronger, more connected teams. During these sessions, as well as at practice, athletes will utilize their 913Journal (included in the gear kit), which features weekly pre- and post-practice check-ins along with a 14-part Mental Toughness program designed to develop confident, resilient athletes who can learn, grow, and perform through adversity.

Throughout the season, our teams take part in 3–4 fun, fast-paced, themed All-Club Scrimmages. These events bring the entire club together to compete against fellow 913 teams in creative, themed outfits—adding energy, excitement, and a strong sense of community. To top it off, prizes are awarded for the best dressed (athletes and parents included!).

Our competition schedule is built to challenge and showcase our teams: National teams will travel to two Qualifiers, Black and White teams will attend one Qualifier, while our 11–12 teams will compete locally.

Every athlete will receive a gear kit, which includes a backpack, three jerseys (black, white, and pink), knee pads, and socks. In addition, athletes will receive three practice shirts, a crew neck, a windbreaker warm up, and a 913Journal.

New This Year for U11-12

After attending the AVCA Convention this past December and learning from some of the nation’s most successful clubs, we are excited to introduce a new approach for our U11-12 athletes.

One of the biggest challenges at the 12-and-under level is how much athletes can develop between July tryouts and the start of the club season in November. Many top clubs now offer younger athletes a spot in the club first, continue training them through the Fall, and then determine final team placement later in the process. This is how we will be approaching the U11-12 age groups moving forward.

For our U11–12 athletes, players will receive an offer to join the club in July rather than a specific team. Through Summer and Fall training, athletes will continue building their skills before final team placements are made. This gives every athlete the chance to develop, compete, and earn the best fit for their current level. We believe this approach creates stronger teams, better training environments, and the best possible experience for each athlete as they continue to grow in the game.
